PRINCETON, N.J. (September 20, 2009) – Playing in her home state of New Jersey, Rollins junior Joanna Coe shot a final round 71 to post a two shot victory and lead the 2nd ranked Tars women’s golf team to a win at the season opening Princeton Invitational on Sunday. Rollins was tied for second after a first round 305 on Saturday, even with Penn and four shots back of leader Harvard. The Tars then hung a final round 297, the second best team score of the tournament, to finish with 602 strokes and a five shot win over Harvard. Host Princeton, behind a final round 294, was third while Penn in fourth and Bucknell in fifth rounded out the top of the leader board. Coe, a Mays Landing, New Jersey native, opened play with a three-over par 75 on Saturday afternoon to sit in a tie for fourth. The two-time All-American came back on Sunday to post the only red number of the tournament with a one-under 71 for a final score of 146 and two shot win over Harvard’s Christine Cho and Princeton’s Anna Jang. The win was the sixth of Coe’s banner career at Rollins, which also includes an NCAA Division II National Championship her freshman season.
